Hello again outside world, England, and anybody who is going to see this on the web! Today has been GREAT (ish, apart from tireing skiing, cold wet baguettes and various things falling on us, well near us, that we don’t really want!) … We set off from the Gite all bright and happy, anticipating a brilliant day of ice climbing and skiing up the Vallon du Diable (Valley of the Devil). We drove up the hill to the car park, thanks to the knew tyres we got up almost straight away. To get to the foot of the route we used the cross country skis and mountaineering skis that Harvey lent us kindly. However this turned out to be a bad idea because for one thing I can’t ski with mountaineering skis and also the terain was very dificult. So I ended up shedding the skis and letting my personal ski carier take them for me! After all the faff of taking the skis on and off for the whole journey it was now pretty late in the day. Mum was cold, so she decided that she would not go up the route so I stayed with her. Dad and Frank started to go up the snow slope at the bottom of the route but decided it was too dodgy to continue so came back down. The trip back down must have taken half as long as the one up, because the whole way was down hill. Mum and Frank got on the skis, to get back down. Whilst me and dad plodded back down. Stuart.

Hi Stuart good to hear you are making use of the skis!! It all sounds very exiting If a little hard work at the moment…. Am sure you will get your ski legs soon…. looking forward to seeing more photos…Harvey and Rosie x
